There’s a feast of music and worship at St John’s this Jubilee Weekend. It’s also Pentecost Sunday and in the morning we will be joined by our bishop.
8.00am Holy Communion
A simple spoken service
10.30am Pentecost Sunday Sung Eucharist
Led by the Rt Revd Dr John Armes, Bishop of Edinburgh
The service includes the ‘confirmation‘ or re-affirmation of baptismal vows of several of our members.
Pentecost is considered the ‘birthday of the church’ and is when we remember the occasion of Jesus’ apostles receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, 50 days after his resurrection. You can read more about it here on the website of our sister church, the Church of England.
6.00pm Choral Evensong
Including Parry’s spectacular Coronation Anthem: I was Glad
Part of our Open Evensong series: come along at 5.15pm to an open rehearsal and sing during the service with the choir! There is also an open rehearsal on Thursday 2 June at 7.30pm.
